It feels like we hear this all too often.  Another restaurant in Western New York is closing for good soon.

Power City Eatery at 444 3rd Street in Niagara Falls will be closing soon. It's news that people in Niagara Falls hate to hear.  It has become a popular spot for lunch and more over the past couple of years. They announced on social media this week that they do not have an exact closing date yet, but that it will be coming "sooner than later."

Why is Power City Eatery closing?

The owners cited the rising price of food and operational expenses as a reason for their closing.  They said that they had taken a deep toll.

It sounded as though they had scraped by with the help of their patrons during the COVID pandemic, it just became way too expensive to own a restaurant these days.  They said it was time for a new chapter for themselves, their family, and their future.

They're not closed yet though

They did add that they weren't closed yet, so if you were craving your favorite pastrami melt or a cup of coffee that you can still come in and get it. Then they added that you should use up any unused gift certificates. But don't wait.  They said the closing will come "sooner than later."

Some things that people had to say in the comments were:

"You should be so proud of making your dream a reality and in everything you've accomplished. Wishing you all the best in your next chapter"

"The best bagels in WNY. Pastrami to die for! Wherever PCE and Joe Hotchkiss end up, we’ll gladly keep supporting you!"

"This is a dark day. You need to do what’s best for you but this was one of the highest quality jewels downtown."
