Massive New Music Venue Is Opening In South Buffalo
Buffalo residents will soon have a new place to enjoy live music in the Queen City.
Outsiders may not consider Buffalo, New York a musical hot spot like Nashville or Austin, but locals know that our city has one of the most rich and diverse music scenes in the Northeast. Live music lovers can find everything from country, hip-hop, rock, jazz, and EDM all over Western New York on any given day of the week.
Not only is the Buffalo music scene bursting with local talent, but the variety of great spots around town makes Buffalo a regular tour stop for national artists. From small and intimate bars and lounges, to popular and iconic music halls like Town Ballroom and Babeville, to gorgeous outdoor venues like Buffalo Riverworks, to the massive KeyBank Center - Buffalo certainly doesn’t suffer from a shortage of live music venues.
In a Buffalo music lover’s mind, there’s no such thing as “too many” places to catch a show. And soon, we’ll be able to add a brand new one to the list.
South Buffalo Area Growing In Popularity
South Buffalo is becoming a hopping area of our city, thanks to the development it’s gone through. In recent years, we’ve seen the ziplines at Riverworks, bike paths, farmers markets, and festivals in the area explode in popularity, reintroducing many residents to a part of Buffalo they hadn’t experienced in years (or ever).
A new project has huge potential to bring even more people to South Buffalo, especially residents that love live music.
New Music Venue Coming To South Buffalo In 2024
As first reported by Buffalo Business First, “The Caz” will be ready to open by next fall inside a historic bank building in South Buffalo.
Located near Cazenovia Park (hence the name) at 2221 Seneca Street, the 100+ year old building has been gutted inside, and developers are putting $2 million into the project.
Plans for the 7,600 square foot venue include a 400 person capacity (250 of those being seats), a full-service kitchen, along with an architectural design that will show off the former bank’s vault and other significant features.
The building has been home to several banks over the years, but has sat empty ever since Bank of America left that location in 2016. We’re glad to see the beautiful location get put to good use, especially if it will bring some of our favorite artists to Buffalo.
