Warm Up Is Coming, But We’re Not Done With Winter In Buffalo Yet
You've heard there's a warm up coming to Western New York. So is it time to pull out the shorts and put the shovels away yet? Some forecasters are saying that you shouldn't pack that winter coat away just yet.
First, the good news - it's going to be gorgeous in WNY next week
It looks like the hype is real at this point for next week. Sure, the weather forecast can change on a dime (and it often does), but it appears that what they were calling for last weekend is looking pretty likely.
They're expecting temperatures to be well above normal for this time of year. With highs expected to be in the 60's for the first time in 2026.
Now, the news you'd expect - it's not going to stay that warm, yet
This winter has been a strange one. In many parts of the country (the East Coast), they've seen the coldest winter temperatures in decades. While many on the West Coast had one of the warmest winters in decades.
That craziness is about to continue. As mentioned above, we are going to see some warm temps over the next week and a half. But after that we are going to see another polar vortex sweep down over the United States, bringing very cold temperatures again.
Does this mean we will see snow?
No, it doesn't necessarily mean we are going to see a huge snowstorm with this polar vortex. However, if you were hoping to wear shorts to the St. Patrick's Day parade, you might need to have a backup plan for your outfit.
