Josh Allen Was Just Given This Huge Honor
Before he gets a chance to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy, Josh Allen is adding another trophy to his awards shelf.
Everyone knows the Bills quarterback had a stellar performance last week, going 21 for 30 with 203 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, 74 rushing yards, and that epic 52-yard rushing touchdown in Buffalo’s 31-17 wild card win against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
A certain group of fans took notice of Allen’s great game, and this week decided to bestow him with their highest honor.
Nickelodeon On NFL Recognizes Josh Allen
Since 2021, kids-based cable channel Nickelodeon, home to popular shows like iCarly, Spongebob Squarepants, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, has teamed up with the NFL to get younger viewers more interested in the league.
The NFL on Nickelodeon has simulcasted four NFL games since the partnership began, airing them on both CBS and on Nickelodeon. The latter channel, however, adds fun graphics (including Nick characters, googly eyes, and lots of superimposed slime) and engaging color commentary that’s geared towards kids. The next game that will be broadcasting “Nickelodeon style” will be the upcoming Super Bowl on February 11th.
In addition, they created a TV Show, NFL Slimetime, that airs weekly on Nickelodeon and Paramount +, where hosts Nate Burleson and Dylan Gilmer recap that week’s games and honor a player with the best performance that week an NVP Award that's voted on by the young fans.
Josh Allen Is This Week’s Nickelodeon NVP
Congratulations, Josh!
Thanks to his stellar performance Monday night, Josh Allen has been named this week’s Nickelodeon Super Wild Card NVP.
Besides the obvious bragging rights (who wouldn’t want that award?) Josh will be given the NVP orange blimp trophy that comes along with it, along with a bucket of real slime that his teammates will have the honor of dumping on him.
The only time Allen was given the NVP Award individually was back in 2021, during week 5 of the season when he went 15 for 26, had 315 passing yards, 3 passing touchdowns, 59 rushing yards, and 1 rushing touchdown in the Bills win against the Kansas City Chiefs at Arrowhead Stadium.
However, the entire Buffalo Bills offense was bestowed the honor of NVP during Super Wild Card week of the 2021-22 season.
Ironically, the Buffalo Bills will be taking on the Chiefs this Sunday, this time on their home turf. Can Josh Allen be a repeat NVP at home against Patrick Mahomes?
