New Golf Simulator Bar Opens In Hamburg, NY
Golfers who are trying to get as many rounds in before the cold weather gets here can breathe a little easier, thanks to this new bar in Hamburg.
Golf in Western New York has a pretty short season. You have to wait in the spring for it to dry up, then when the snow begins to fly, it's pretty much over until it all dries up again. That's why golf simulators are so big around here. They give you the opportunity to play year-round without having to worry about what the weather is like outside.
That's why this bar in Hamburg could be big.
Sandbaggers is now open on Buffalo Street in Hamburg
Sandbaggers is a bar with three golf simulators inside. They offer food, drinks, golf simulators, and huge TVs to watch all the sports you can handle.
For those who don't know where Buffalo Street is, it's up the street from Black Smoke Bourbon Bar, Carte Blanche restaurant, and the new burger place Augies (which is on the circle up the street).
Sandbaggers has a famous owner
The person who owns Sandbaggers is a familiar name in the Western New York area, too. It's Buffalo Bandits player Dhane Smith. He co-owns the bar with his father-in-law, Steve Daly, who told WGRZ it was inspired by the simulator that Smith has in his own basement. He explained that after O'Brien's bowling alley collapsed under the three feet of snow they received from a snow storm, they wanted to give people another place to go.
"When Dhane and my daughter built their home, they put a simulator in the basement. That was definitely the right thing to do. It drew everybody in. Everybody had a good time. At that point, we thought about building it in Hamburg." - Steve Daly
The bays can be rented for groups of up to 10 people. For $60 per hour you could have access to over 75 golf courses.
