Johnny Rzeznik from the Goo Goo Dolls is in the hospital with pneumonia right now. He took to social media to announce from a hospital bed that the Goos are going to have to postpone some shows.

The Goo Goo Dolls are heading to Buffalo, New York for their Summer Anthem tour with Dashboard Confessional on August 9, 2025.

We’re heartbroken to postpone our South Africa shows. This country means so much to us, and we were so excited to create more memories with you. Sadly, my doctor has advised rest and recovery. Thank you for your understanding—we’ll make it worth the wait when we return in March 2025!
Rescheduled Dates:
March 25 – Cape Town
March 27 – Durban
March 29 – Pretoria
It has been almost exactly 10 years that one of the old members of the Goo Goo Dolls sued the rest of the band. Mike Malinin was not an original member of the Goo Goo Dolls, but certainly joined them in the very beginning of their success when they started it making it big with A Boy Named Goo that had the songs 'Long Way Down', 'Naked' and 'Name'.
Mike was touring with the band in 1995 and left in December 2013 for apparently parental leave when his wife had a baby. He claims that he was fired because he was out with his baby.
Now, the Goo Goo Dolls strictly is a duo of Johnny and Robby Takac with their backing band. The duo started the band from their garages in West Seneca, New York in the mid-80s.
