Famous Buffalo Restaurant Shocks Everyone by Closing
The backbone of the Buffalo community are the countless bars and restaurants that residents love. Locally owned business in Western New York have been supported for years, even during hard times, which we have had many of over the last seven decades.
It's been especially tough since March of 2020, when the pandemic began and forced many local restaurants and bars to close their doors for patrons. That happened again in late 2020 and early 2021, and unfortunately impacted the bottom line.
Quite a few longtime restaurants closed their doors. It's been even harder for the businesses on Allen Street in Buffalo, due to the construction project that has been taking place this year.
Much of Allen has been ripped up as crews work to repave and revamp the street. This has caused patrons to avoid the area, unfortunately. One famous Allentown restaurant has closed its doors, which blindsided many locals.
According to a WKBW, a letter sent to them by Towne Restaurant confirms they have closed their doors. There was no warning given to its employees.
They apologized in the letter to their employees and customers, saying there were multiple factors that contributed to them closing abruptly.
Towne was in operations for 51 years and many people went there for Greek cuisine, brunch, lunch and dinner. It was very popular on weekends, especially Saturday and Sunday mornings.
The building that Towne Restaurant occupied went up for sale back in March, but it's unclear if that had anything to do with the closure; or is the construction also had anything to do with the sudden closure.
