The busy County Fair season is here across Western New York! It is time to enjoy the rides, the attractions, agriculture and most of all-the food!

As we enjoy the hot weather of summer here in New York State, it is also time to celebrate the great things happening all year round in our county! The tradition of the county Fair dates back decades and although it has taken on some upgrades and new attractions, the heart and soul of a county Fair has remained the same.

At it's core, the true spirit of a local county Fair is to highlight the agriculture community that we are still blessed to have.

Now that July is here, and August is just a few days away, there are so many great county fairs to attend. From Western New York, to the Hudson Valley, New York State ranks near the top of the states with the best fairs!

I found a great resource that will help you find a county Fair to visit near you.

In their recent Facebook post, the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets noted that:

"With more than 50 county and local fairs to choose from across the state, it’s easy to have the Best Day Ever (All Summer Long)! For nearly two centuries, county fairs have been a cornerstone of New York’s agricultural industry, playing a vital role in building community and showcasing the very best of agriculture".

While you get those little ones on their favorite ride, and try every food stand possible, leave plenty of time to see and chat with the kids of 4-H. The Agriculture industry will stay alive, and strong, because of the hard work and dedication of these kids and their families. The county Fair is their "Super Bowl" and often a "thank you" or sticking around to see one of their auctions or shows or exhibits will let them know how much we appreciate and need them.
