A new study says the Erie County Fair could be operating, safely, at full capacity for 2021.

But the ability to open without capacity restrictions hinges on one factor -- total vaccinations for the area.

Organizers of the Erie County Fair partnered with a research firm to conduct a study to determine if the event could be held safely, as the world is still experiencing the coronavirus pandemic.

Promising Data from Research & Data Analysis Company

The company, Epistemix, claims their data can predict future viral trends and says the Erie County Fair could be held with no restrictions on capacity, without risk of spreading COVID-19.

The data suggests the fair could be held without risk if the community is up to 70% immunity, reports WKBW.

WKBW reports that the Erie County Fair typically brings in over one million people over the fair's 10-day run. The Erie County Fair is tentatively scheduled to begin on August 11.

Will You Be Required to Show Proof of Vaccination or Negative COVID Test Result?

According to WGRZ, the Erie County Agricultural Society has no plan to require proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test for admittance into the fair.

Waiting on Guidance from New York State

However, fair organizers must follow state guidance -- which they are still waiting for.

Representatives from Epistemix and the Erie County Fair are scheduled to meet with local and state health officials later today to share what the data is showing.

Organizers for the fair mention the role personal responsibility takes in keeping infection rates low -- attendees are still expected to maintain social distancing, socialize with people they live with and wash hands.
