We've only just begun the school year in many Western New York school districts but there has already been some positive COVID-19 cases.
According to WIVB, multiple school districts here in Western New York have COVID-19 cases.
Lackawanna:
Parents were notified of an individual who tested positive at Lackawanna Middle School last Tuesday, September 8th, and now the school is in the process of contact tracing. Less than 20 people were contacted by the Health Department.
Amherst:
Amherst Middle School also reported a case of COVID-19, according to WIVB.
Clarence:
Clarence Middle School reported that someone who tested positive for COVID-19 was at the school last Wednesday, September 9th.
North Buffalo:
St. Mark's in Buffalo also reported a positive COVID-19 case, according to WIVB.
Hamburg:
Hamburg High School reported a positive case, however, that person was apparently not in school while contagious.
“They are classifying it as an off-campus case, which means that person was not on campus during the time that the individual was contagious, and they advised us that no students or staff members are at risk of infection from this particular individual,” Michael Cornell, Hamburg Central School superintendent, said.
