One Of Western New York’s Hottest Days In 70+ Years

Western New York has received a “triple H” weather rating for Wednesday.

And the “triple H” is an informal term that refers to weather that people complain of as being hot, humid, and hazy.

The official term for Wednesday’s weather forecast is a “heat advisory,” which goes into effect for Niagara, Orleans, Northern Erie, and Genesee Counties from 11 AM until 8 PM on Wednesday, July 20.  

The highest temperature ever recorded in Buffalo maxed out at 99 degrees back in August of 1948, and those records go as far back as 1874.

For Wednesday, there will be a combination of high temperatures pushing 90°, but with humidity factored in, temperatures will feel like the upper 90s. 

Some scattered thunderstorms are expected after 10 this evening through mostly the northern counties in Western New York. 

In Western New York, it’s going to feel like the “triple H” throughout the day on Wednesday, and it will feel like the warmest day of the year so far.  Because temperatures in the 90s are not necessarily a common occurrence in Buffalo, take extra precaution and care to get hydrated, especially if you are working outside or  you are living without air conditioning. Don’t leave your pets in the car, even if it is for short periods.  

We may see rain showers continue through Thursday before fading in the afternoon, but the rest of the day will be dry and warm. We won’t see much rain until Sunday, which is looking to be more promising when it comes to rain.
