Health Code Violations In Chautauqua County In December
Each month Chautauqua County has health code inspectors that visit restaurants and other spots with food preparation. The inspectors are tasked with trying to keep us safe. They thoroughly review each restaurant's operations and location to make sure the restaurants are not violating any health codes. Health code inspectors report on critical violations such as "Potentially hazardous foods are not cooled by an approved method where the food temperature can be reduced from 120oF to 70oF or less within two hours and 70oF to 45oF within four hours."
One of my "resolutions" if you call it that, is to cook more at home. It has been pretty disturbing putting together these lists of restaurants each month. The number of violations and the types of violations I see made me realize that the people cooking our food do not seem to care about our safety. I want to support local restaurants, but only those who have zero health code violations. A food-borne illness can kill, so it isn't a game. When I think about how poorly many fast food workers are paid and treated, I understand to some extent) that they don't care. Honestly, they aren't paid to. At some point, artificial intelligence will likely take their jobs, so there is no real incentive for them to give a hoot.
The restaurants below are the 32 spots in Chautauqua County that were inspected last month that actually do care. 52 restaurants did not pass their health code inspections, resulting in a variety of violations. Contact me here.
