Why 16 New Houses Are Being Built In Buffalo, New York
The options for people who are looking to buy a newly built home in the Western New York area have been pretty limited over the last few years. While the Buffalo area has had a huge housing boom, so much so that Buffalo has been one of the hottest housing markets several years in a row, there hasn't been that much new home construction.
In older rust-belt area cities like Buffalo, there isn't as much undeveloped land as you would see in some areas of the south and southwest. Due to that, when there is new construction, it's quite a big deal. It's even a much bigger deal when up to 16 new homes are set to be built. That is exactly what Habitat for Humanity Buffalo is planning to do in the Cold Springs neighborhood.

According to Buffalo Rising, an ambitious housing project that Habitat for Humanity Buffalo has been planning for a while is ready to move forward and when complete will help 16 more individuals and/or families become homeowners in the Queen City.
There are a number of vacant city lots on Emerson Place and Glenwood Avenue that would have three buildings constructed that would house 16 townhomes. Each townhouse would feature 1,360 square feet, three bedrooms, one and a half baths, a full basement, and a private backyard/courtyard.
Habitat for Humanity offers a unique homeownership program that helps low-income first-time homebuyers reach the American Dream of owning a home. In 2024, Habitat helped more than 3 million people nationwide get into a home.
