Monday night football often brings in the Goodyear Blimp.  Last night's game was no exception, and the pictures were pretty amazing!

If you were one of the many people stuck on route 5 yesterday on your way to the game or on the way home from work, you may have seen something in the sky that you don't see every day.  The Goodyear Blimp was floating peacefully over the skyway as people prepared for the craziness that was about to ensue at Highmark Stadium as the Bills battled the Titans.

This is the best picture I could manage to get...

But they were able to get a MUCH better view of all of you that were at the game...

It's strange to think that in just a few years, this landscape will look completely different.  The new stadium will be off to the left of this one in the picture and eventually, the place that we currently know as Highmark Stadium will be a parking lot.  This picture is history.

The first commercial blimp ever flown by Goodyear was called The Pilgrim in 1925.  They were meant to be used for travel for people back then and were actually called "air yachts."

In the 1940s and 1950s the blimps became tools for advertising and public relations and soon provided aerial views for events like parades and eventually football games. It was a win-win situation because it allowed people to see things as they had never seen them before and they were able to get their name in front of some of the biggest crowds in American history.

People still love to see the Goodyear Blimp overhead and are constantly sharing pictures of it on social media.
