Senator Tim Kennedy & NFTA Announce State Funding For Improvements at Buffalo’s Freedom Wall
The NFTA and Senator Tim Kennedy announced $366,000 in funds from the state, which will be used to improve the Freedom Wall. They will be working with the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor Commission and the East Side Garden Walk. The NFTA has secured the minority-owned Watts Architecture and Engineering, to design plans to improve the sidewalk area along the Freedom Wall.
In a press release I received, Senator Kennedy said,
“The Freedom Wall is a celebration and a tribute to the African American civil rights leaders, past and present, who have transformed the fight for social justice and equality. I’m proud to have secured this funding for the enhancement and beautification of this powerful mural, so that its vision can truly be showcased and amplified in the Michigan Street African American Heritage Corridor."
The NFTA wants the community to give input on improvements to the Freedom Wall. You can voice your opinion using this link.
