Former Buffalo Sabers Player Charged For Violating Order of Protection
A man who formerly played for the Buffalo Sabers has been arraigned for violating an order of protection. Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced that the 64-year-old Buffalo man was arraigned before Buffalo City Court Judge JaHarr Pridgen. Anthony “Tony” S. McKegney has been charged with two counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree.
Between April 2 and April 8, 2022, McKegney allegedly called the victim multiple times and sent e-mails, knowingly violating an order of protection that was already put in place. An Erie County Family Court Judge issued the order of protection on March 25. The defendant has been released on his own recognizance. He will return to court in front of Buffalo City Court Judge Diane Wray on Tuesday, October 4, at 9:30 am. McKegney could spend 4 years behind bars if he is convicted of the highest charge against him. Assistant District Attorney Jordana C. Gelber of the Buffalo City Court Bureau is prosecuting the case against McKegney. The Erie County D.A. reminds you,
As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
