Drake Wants to Create a Game Show Inspired by His Song “God’s Plan”
Drake may have taken a liking to giving things away during his "God's Plan" video because it's now being reported that the rapper plans to launch a game show inspired by the song.
According to a Aug. 7 report from TMZ, Drizzy is trying to lock down the trademark so he can create some "God's Plan" merch, your run-of-the-mill marketing and promotion, and evidently a television game show. Unfortunately, not much for information is available at the moment about the possibility of a "God's Plan" series. However, we're here for the image of Drake hosting as an Alex Trebek-type.
The apparent trademark filing is a huge push forward for the already hugely successful song and video. The original visual, which dropped in February, has currently reached more than 700 million views on YouTube, features Drizzy handing out nearly $1 million to students, shelters and Miami residents in need.
Drake referred to the visual as the most important thing he'd ever done in his career. It proved to be meteorically successful—it served as his longest-leading Billboard hit to date, sitting atop the Hot 100 for 11 straight weeks. This also broke another record, as it made Drizzy the first-ever male hip-hop artist to score two hits atop the Billboard Hot 100 for more than 10 weeks. The other hit was "One Dance."
