Good news! DMVs around Western New York are reopening today and have put some new things in place to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Here's what you need to know.

If you have been patiently waiting to handle your business with the Department of Motor Vehicles, the wait is over! The Erie County Department of Motor Vehicles has reopened, according to WIVB. You can visit the DMV in-person now, but you will need to set up an appointment. Here in WNY, there are four DMV offices open:

Downtown Auto Bureau DMV
170 Pearl St, Buffalo, NY 14203

Cheektowaga Auto Bureau DMV
2122 George Urban Blvd, Depew, NY 14043

Southtowns Auto Bureau DMV
1110 Union Rd, West Seneca, NY 14224

Northtowns Auto Bureau DMV
2309 Eggert Rd, Tonawanda, NY 14150

"Appointment Hot Line (716) 858-7450. If you wish to speak to a Representative unrelated to a reservation, press 3 and you will be connected to the NYS DMV Call Center." ~ Erie County

Here are the changes to the DMV:

- In-person visits to the DMV must be set up by appointment
- Customers will be required to wear a mask
- Only the person who set up the appointment will be allowed inside
- Four locations open in Erie County
- No CDL permit testing, HAZMAT or Amendment testing will be happening
- No Class D permit testing will be happening
