If there is one thing that just about all New Yorkers have in common, it's the fact that we don't need much convincing to go celebrate and party. However, it's surprising to see thing one type of party on the increase.

While the number of people getting divorced in New York is pretty low when compared to the rest of the country, it does seem that the number of parties that are happening to celebrate a divorce is on the rise.

As a working DJ in Western New York, my DJ buddies and I have been receiving a steady increase in the amount of divorce party inquiries from people looking to throw a shindig to celebrate their newly found freedom.

However, does that really surprise you? We all have heard anecdotally about how terrible the marriages that some people have been in, and what a relief it was to finally be free from them.

When looking over the inquiries that I receive, it's mostly been women looking to gather with their girlfriends and celebrate like they’re escaping something. Some of the divorce parties that I've been asked about are often outfitted with plenty of wine, maybe some sort of exotic entertainment, and possibly some time set aside to roast the ex.

It's not just for women though; there are quite a few strip clubs that have divorce party packages for men to celebrate freedom from tyranny.

But Why Would Someone Want To Throw A Party After Divorce

Some people may ask, what is the point of these divorce parties after all? Who really knows, but if you can get to a point in life where you can finally being to start putting things back together after a significant part of your life just fell apart, it may be worth it.

No matter how you choose to commemorate your divorce, just make sure you know who gets to keep the pups when you finally split up.
