CTE Related Death of Young Hamburg Man Gets National Attention
A Hamburg family is getting some national attention and is extending their support to others who have struggled with CTE related illness.
After their son Matthew died in July as a result of suicide, The Benedict has opened up to offer their help to other families who may be struggling.
In an article published in The USA Today this week, Mathew's mom said:
"We don't blame anybody," Anne Benedict said. "We blame ourselves more than anything else for not being able to protect our son properly. Or not realizing it."
I never got to meet Mathew. However, I have family that is close to Mathew's siblings and his mom and dad. My heart breaks for them and other families. Hopefully this article and their message to others can help them heal and bring awareness to those who are struggling.
