If there is one thing in Buffalo and Western New York that men love more than beer and football (and sometimes hockey), it's cars. You don't have to look any farther than the great car shows we have all over the region every year.

From the Buffalo Auto Show to Motorama, the Central Terminal Car Show to the Cavalcade of Cars, and countless other events, there's nothing like our love affair with cars in the 716. Just take a ride down Route 5 in the summer months and you'll see tons of beautiful vehicles cruising along.

One of the most anticipated car shows in the 716 happened on Saturday, September 28, 2024, and the cars did not disappoint one bit at the 13th Annual Cruisin' For a Cure Car Show.

What Is The Cruisin' For a Cure Car Show?

Presented by West Hurr New York, the Cruisin' for a Cure Car Show is sponsored thanks to a partnership between Men Allied for the Need to Understand Prostate Cancer (MANUP) Buffalo and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, and features dozens of classic cars, sports cars, race cars, trucks, and motorcycles in a show that spans the blocks around Roswell Parks campus.

Even with light sprinkles of rain, several hundred men, women, and children walked around the Buffalo Medical Campus neighborhood, taking in all of the amazing automobiles and learning all about the seriousness of prostate cancer and how it impacts men.

According to data from the National Cancer Institute, prostate cancer is the 2nd most common cancer that impacts men in America. Approximately 1 in 8 men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, and in 2024, it's expected that nearly 300,000 will be diagnosed with this disease this year.

For most men, the earlier cancer is detected, the greater the chance that it can be treated successfully, and testing for prostate cancer can be done quickly with either a prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test or a digital rectal exam (DRE).
