Criticism Ensues Behind Actor Halley Bailey Lands Role As “The Little Mermaid”

Disney has decided to recreate their infamous animated movie "The Little Mermaid" into a live action film and this week they announced the actor who will play their lead character "Ariel" and what for it.....SHE'S BLACK! Although fair-skinned, actor Halle Bailey has received an out-pour of criticism and backlash via social media as a result.

All over social media there's private groups and pages popping up in support of "Keeping Disney's portrayed princesses and primary characters white." Although this ideology is completely biased and irrational, very disturbing racially charged memes and artwork has surfaced surrounding the announcement with the accompanying hashtag #notmyariel that has sparked outrage amongst the masses.
