Biden Says COVID-19 Pandemic Over, But New York State’s Numbers Say Otherwise

I feel President Biden.  It sure feels like the pandemic is over.  We've been partying, going to concerts, shopping, bar-b-cueing, traveling, and living our best lives here in New York State.  But, the number of positive COVID-19 cases in the state tells a bit of a different story.

President Joe Biden was a guest on CBS' "60 Minutes" when he said the COVID-19 pandemic is "over," according to CNN,

The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with Covid. We're still doing a lot of work on it. It's -- but the pandemic is over.

Men Lie, Women Lie, Numbers Don't Lie

I guess Biden's "saving grace" for all those that disagree and say the pandemic IS NOT over, is that he says COVID-19 is still a problem. It's definitely a problem here in New York State, especially as we head into flu season. Some parts of the state seem to have a handle on stopping the spread of COVID-19, but others...not so much.

According to the most recent numbers Governor Kathy Hochul released today, Monday, September 19, 2022, there are a few regions in New York that have significantly high COVID-19 positivity rates, especially IF the pandemic is actually over. The families of the 14 New Yorkers that died from COVID-19 on Friday, September 16, might disagree that the pandemic is over.

4 Regions In New York State Have COVID-19 Positivity Rates Over 10%

There are four regions in the state that have 7-day average COVID-19 positivity rates over 10 percent, for the numbers reported on Sunday, September 18. Two additional regions are not far from hitting 10 percent.

Central New York - 10.29%

North Country - 10.57%

Mohawk Valley - 10.89%

Western New York - 11.89%

These 2 New York State Regions Have COVID-19 Rates Approaching 10 Percent

Southern Tier - 8.57%

Capital Region - 9.48%
