If you take a look outside in just about any area around the Western New York and Southern Ontario region, it would be crystal clear that the sun and warm weather have once again returned to the 716, 585, and 905.

After the long winter hibernation we have to endure, it's time for us to spend as much time outside as possible because you know we only have a few precious weeks to enjoy all that a great Buffalo summer has to offer. Whether we like it or not, winter will be back before we know it.

Now that June is here, we're right in the heat of festival and event season in the Buffalo area, and there is no shortage of great things to do. In fact, there is just about something happening every single day in the 716, which means your summer to-do list should be packed tight.

There is one event that happens annually in Buffalo's premier park, the storied Delaware Park, that brings thousands of folks into the city, and your good friends who live in North Buffalo, like me, have a few suggestions for you as you come into our hood.

The Corporate Challenge Back In Buffalo

If there is one thing we know for a fact, it's that Buffalo loves a good party and does not need an excuse or reason to eat or drink. This, of course, includes a road race, which is also one of Buffalo's most popular parties with a purpose. The annual JP Morgan Corporate Challenge is set to take place on Thursday, June 11, 2026, in Delaware Park and North Buffalo, bringing thousands of people to the city for this great event.

While some folks are there to run in an incredible 3 1/2 mile race along the streets of North Buffalo, most are there for the party that happens in the park, and as someone who has done this many times over the years, it's one heck of a party with tons of food, drinks, music, celebrations, and fun. This is especially true since the J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge has selected The 43North Foundation as its beneficiary for 2026.

As fun as this event is, as someone who calls North Buffalo home, I know that I can speak for many of my neighbors when I say this event creates a few issues for us Buffalonians. Don't get me wrong, you're more than welcome to our part of town, but there are a few rules that we hope you will consider when coming to town.

Open Letter To Folks Running In The Corporate Challenge In Buffalo

While it's a super fun event, there are a few things to keep in mind when you and a few thousand of your friends come into a neighborhood and take over for a few hours. The Corporate Challenge FAQ is filled with tons of important information to keep in mind, but there are a few things that are important to the people who live in the neighborhood around Delaware Park and North Buffalo that you should know as well:

  • There will be lots of traffic on and around Parkside, Amherst, Colvin, and surrounding streets. Please be patient and keep the road rage to a minimum while searching for parking.
  • Since parking is the current topic, please do not block our driveways or park on our lawns. Parking in north Buffalo is precious, and it's even harder when you can't get down your street or into your own home because someone blocked you in.
  • Please do not litter. We know that it's easy to toss your trash down on the ground, and the work crews work hard to keep the park clean after you're done, but please do your part and don't be a litterbug. Please toss your trash in a can.
  • Don't forget that front lawns and back yards are NOT toilets; there are tons of porta-potty stations around the course for you to relieve yourself.
  • Make sure you have fun and say hi to us when you jog by; this is the City of Good Neighbors, and all.

More than anything else, have fun and enjoy all the great city of Buffalo has to offer.
