The Erie County Department of Health (ECDOH) has announced that they will be offering COVID-19 vaccine booster doses to all eligible children in the county. Children between the ages of 5 and 11, will be able to get their booster dose starting this Friday, May 27th at county-run clinics.

A few reminders;
- Appointments are highly recommended
- Walk-ins will be accepted.
- Individuals under the age of 18 years old must have a parent/legal guardian give consent
- Be sure to bring your Vaccination Record Card with you to the vaccination site.
Commissioner of Health Dr. Gale Burstein said via a press release:
You can think of COVID-19 vaccines as working like a battery...The initial series give you protection against illness, but its protection can fade over time, much like a phone battery’s charge...Booster doses do exactly that – boosting your immunity, adding to your body’s ability to fight off infection.
Children who are between the ages of 5 and 11 are now eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as a booster dose. They must wait at least 5 months after completing their two-dose Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine series.
The Food and Drug Administration authorized the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine for a booster dose for children who fall in this age range earlier this month.
