We are told to check our smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms twice a year when we change our clocks back. But there's a good reason to check those detectors right now. There is a nationwide recall of the smoke and carbon monoxide detectors because they may not alert residents of a fire.

The Kidde TruSense smoke alarms and smoke-carbon monoxide alarms are being recalled. There are two hundred twenty-six thousand being recalled across the country according to WKBW.com. The model series numbers are 2040, 2050, 2060, and 2070. You can find the numbers on the back of the device. The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission says that only the alarms that have the TruSense logo or AMBER=FAULT that is printed on the front. These are the ones included in the recall.

Major retailers carried these detectors including Walmart, Home Depot, department, home, and hardware stores. Also, electrical distributors sold them nationwide. They were also sold online through Amazon, ShopKidde, and more. They were sold from May 2019 through September 2020. They retailed for ten and seventy dollars.

If you purchased one of these you can contact Kidde for a free replacement. No one has been injured with the recall. You can call Kidde at 844-796-9972 or go online by clicking HERE.
