Buffalo Zoo Announces Reopening Date
To the delight of absolutely everybody in Western New York, The Buffalo Zoo formally announced their reopening date on social media and on their website today.
The Buffalo Zoo will finally reopen to members on Thursday, July 2nd with all new safety guidelines designed specifically to keep Zoo visitors, employees, and of course the animals healthy. Non-members will be able to visit the Zoo beginning on Friday, July 3rd.
All of your favorites Zoo friends like Roary, Luna, Mohan and Kayin will still be there to visit, but there will be some major changes to keep everyone safe. You can expect the following changes:
- No-touch temperature checks for all guests and team members
- Face masks for all guests age two or older are required
- The Zoo will be closed every Tuesday for deep cleaning
- Advanced online ticket purchasing required
- Reduced capacity
- Modifications to some pathways and exhibits
One brand new benefit for Zoo members is the opportunity to get into the Zoo a full hour before the gates typically open to the public--members can get in at 8AM vs. 9AM.
Buffalo Zoo President and CEO Norah Fletchall gave a statement which was posted on the Buffalo Zoo website:
While the Safe Steps require some extra effort and planning, we see our re-open as a phased one. We will routinely examine the data and re-assess what measures can be removed or remain in place to keep everyone safe when they visit the Buffalo Zoo.
We can't WAIT to see all of our Zoo friends again!
