The National Weather Service in Buffalo warns residents that the storm is not over,

TODAY: Off of Lake Erie, band will shift south today across Buffalo Metro into the Southtowns. Off of Lake Ontario, band will slowly shift south across northern Jefferson county towards Watertown. Blustery again today, gusts of 45-50 mph making blowing snow & whiteout conditions.

Western New York is getting hit with heavy lake effect snow, with accumulations in some areas up to a foot. We're experiencing wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour. The NWS describes the conditions this morning as "near blizzard."

The City sent out a text message warning saying,

The snow band has shifted into the City. Travel Ban remains in place. Dangerous conditions are possible over the next few hours with high winds & blowing snow.

Snowfall within the band can be as high as two inches per hour. It is not safe to go outside and we don't want a repeat of the deadly blizzard of 2022. The best thing you can do is stay home!
