The Grammy Awards have been postponed again for the second year due to COVID-19. But that doesn't mean we can't celebrate the Buffalo and Western New York natives who have won the prestigious award.

2021

Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus
The Buffalo Philharmonic Chorus won a Grammy in 2021 for "Best Choral Performance" for their recording of "The Passion of Yeshua," by Richard Danielpour.

'The Passion of Yeshua' is a dramatic oratorio written by Danielpour, a schoolmate and longtime friend of [JoAnn] Falletta. It is the personal telling of the final hours of Christ on earth.

2020

Walter Deas
Deas performs in Gary Clark Jr.'s band, playing the keyboard.  He met Clark in Austin after he moved there upon graduating from Buffalo’s Academy for the Visual and Performing Arts. Clark and his band won Grammys in 2020 for Best Rock Song and Best Rock Performance for the song "This Land."

Amy Schroeder
Schroeder, who graduated from Amherst High School in 2002, is a violinist with the Attacca Quartet. The group won a Grammy in the chamber music/small ensemble performance category. Schroeder, a founding member of the group, has performed solo with the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Amherst Symphony, the Clarence Symphony, and the Greater Buffalo Youth Orchestra.

2019

James Foye III
A 2009 Sweet Home High School graduate, who goes by Keyz, won a Grammy in 2019 for his work on Cardi B’s album “Invasion of Privacy.” Cardi won a Grammy for the Best Rap Album.

Michael Christie
Christie graduated from West Seneca East High School in 1992. He won a Grammy Award in 2019 for Best Opera Recording for his work on “Bates: The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs.”

JoAnn Falletta/Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra
Falletta is the music director of The Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. She won her third Grammy Award in 2019,

Annie Stoll
Stoll, who is a native-Buffalonian won a Grammy for Best Box Set or Special Limited Edition Package in 2019 for her work on “Squeeze Box: The Complete Works of Weird Al Yankovic.”

Tom Hambridge
A Hamburg-native, Hambridge won a Grammy Award in 2019 for his work on Buddy Guy's "Blues Is Alive and Well," which won Best Traditional Blues Album. The win was his third Grammy Award.

Steve Gadd Band
Rochester -native and world-famous drummer Steve Gadd won a Grammy Award in 2019. He and his band won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Instrumental album. In 2018, Gadd was inducted into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame.

Nathan "Mick" Guzauski
Guzauski won the Latin Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album for his work on Jei Beibi, the eighth studio album by Mexican band Café Tacuba.

2016

Kevin Camp
Kevin Camp, of Buffalo, who produces for the gospel group Israel & NewBreed, picked up a Grammy Award in 2016. The album Covered: Alive In Asia [Live], which was produced by Kevin, was named the Best Gospel Album of the Year.

2014

Nathan "Mick" Guzauski
The Rochester-native won the Grammy Award for Best Progressive R&B Album for his work on Pharrell's album Girl.

2013

Nathan "Mick" Guzauski
Guzauski won big in 2013, picking up the Grammy Awards for Album of the Year, Best Dance/Electronica Album, and Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album, Non-Classical for his work on Daft Punk's Random Access Memories. He also won Grammy Award for Record of the Year for Daft Punk and Pharrell's single Get Lucky and the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Album for Steppin’ Out by Herb Alpert.

Brian Grunert
Buffalo-native Grunert won a Grammy Award for 'Best Recording Package' for the 'Evolve' album by singer-songwriter Ani DiFranco. He was also nominated for Grammys in 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, and 2013.

2001

Nathan "Mick" Guzauski
Guzauski won a Latin Grammy Award for Best Engineered Album for his work on Mexican singer Thalía sixth studio album Arrasando.

1990

Rick James
Buffalo's superstar Rick James won a Grammy Award for Mc Hammer's hit 'U Can't Touch This,' which used Rick's smash 'Super Freak.' Hammer's version won the award for Best Rhythm and Blues Song, which was a bittersweet victory for Rick, since Super Freak was nominated for the award for Best Rock Vocal Performance, Male in 1981, but didn't win. Outside of this vicarious win, Rick has not received any Grammy Awards for his own songs.

1978

Chuck Mangione
The Rochester-native won a Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance in 1978 for Children Of Sanchez. He was also nominated for Record of the Year for his single Feels So Good and Best Instrumental Composition for Consuelo's Love Theme.

1976

Chuck Mangione
In 1976, Mangione won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Composition for Bellavia. He was nominated for several other Grammys in previous years.
