Boxed wine has come a long way from its humble beginning in the 1960s.  These days high-quality premium wines can be found in a box.  But there is a life hack you may not know about them that will change your boxed wine life.

Boxed wine got its start in Australia in 1964.  An Australian inventor came up with the original design, which he based on a product that was being used to transport battery acid.  The first boxed wine wasn't quite as convenient as the ones we have today.  You had to open the corrugated cardboard box, cut the corner off the plastic bladder, and when finished, reseal it with a special peg.

Fast forward to the 2000s, several California winemakers began to embrace the concept of boxed wine and began to package and sell premium wines in a box.  The first of these to be introduced nationally was "Black Box". Slowly but surely, the stigma of drinking wine out of a box began to fade.

Not only is the quality of boxed wine much better than it was years ago, but the packaging is also better for our environment.  Compared to their glass bottle brethren, according to Scandinavian state research, boxed wines leave only between 12 and 29% of the carbon footprint, and the packaging is less expensive making it more environmentally friendly than bottled wine.

They say that boxed wine will not spoil for approximately 3–4 weeks after breaking the seal.  But, if you're anything like me, your box of wine never makes it to the three, let alone the four-week mark.

If you're also like me, you can get frustrated with the boxes of wine, because even after you close the spigot, there are sure to be a few drops of red that make their way onto your kitchen counter or a puddle of white that makes its way onto the shelf in your fridge.

That was until my wife did something the other day, that I never had thought to do before when drinking boxed wine.  It's the simplest, yet most effective way to stop the boxed wine drips...TURN THE BOX UPSIDE DOWN!!

In all our years of drinking boxed wine, I am shocked that neither of us had thought to do this before.  No muss, no fuss, no more drips!

So grab a box of your favorite red or white, and when your wine drinking day is drip-free, think of me.

You're welcome in advance.
