A major discount retailer is closing a location in New York. Could this be the start of more closings across the state? There have been quite a few retailers and pharmacies that have announced store closings around New York.

TJ Maxx And Marshals Stores To Close In New York

TJX Companies, Inc. filed paperwork with the New York State Department of Labor to announce that it will be laying off employees and closing two stores.

The TJ Maxx Store located at 503 Fulton Street, Brooklyn, NY, 11201 will be closing to the public on January 6, 2024. Approximately 69 employees will be laid off.

The Marshalls Store 1074 located at 610 Exterior Street, Bronx, NY, 10451 will be closing to the public on January 6, 2024. Approximately 100 employees will be laid off.

This could potentially indicate more store closings by the giant retailer around the rest of New York State in 2024. The company also owns HomeGoods.

Big Lots Is Closing A Capital Region Store In New York

According to News 10, the retail giant confirmed on Tuesday, December 18, 2023, that it is closing a Big Lots location in Colonie, New York. The store, which is located in Colonie Plaza at 1892 Central Ave, Albany, NY 12205, is about 10 miles from downtown Albany.

The store will permanently close by the end of January 2024. Big Lots told News 10,
