Only three hospitals in upstate New York landed in the top 20 best hospitals in the state. U.S. News & World Report released a list of top-tier hospitals.
The rest of the hospitals that made the top 20 are located in the New York City or Long Island areas. The number one ranked hospital in New York, according to U.S. News & World Report are actually 4 hospitals. Yes, there was a 4-way tie for the #1 spot!

1. Mount Sinai Hospital in New York, NY
1. North Shore University Hospital at Northwell Health in Manhasset, NY
1. NYU Langone Hospitals in New York, NY
As you can see, all of the top ranked hospitals are located in the New York City area.
Three Upstate Hospitals Make Top 20 List For Best In New York State
As I was scrolling through the list, I was a little disappointed that there were so few upstate hospitals on it. But, I guess three is better than none.
U.S. News evaluated 207 hospitals in New York. Thirty-three meet high U.S. News standards and are ranked in the state. U.S. News also ranked hospitals in the Albany, Buffalo, New York City, Poughkeepsie-Newburgh, and Rochester metro areas.
20. Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY
16. Strong Memorial Hospital of the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY
13. St. Peter's Hospital-Albany in Albany, NY
It is tied at #13 with Staten Island University Hospital at Northwell Health in Staten Island and Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook.
