An executive order signed by Governor Andrew Cuomo states that all workers in essential businesses in New York State that have direct interaction with the public must wear face masks provided to them by their employer.

According to Newsday, this policy will go into effect at 8PM tonight (4/15).

Per Newsday, there are retailers who have concerns about whether or not there was enough lead time to execute this policy by the governor's deadline, considering the executive order was signed on Sunday night. Given the widespread shortage of masks, many may need to turn to "face coverings" in lieu of medical face masks.
