2Pac Prison Letter Reveals He Broke Up With Madonna Because She Was White
It’s no secret the late Tupac Shakur had a relationship with Madonna but the reason they ended things was never known, until now. In a prison letter which was posted by TMZ from the late rapper addressed to “M,” Tupac revealed he broke up with the singer because she was white.
“I’ve waited a long time 2 finally write this,” Tupac wrote. "Mainly because I was struggling to find all the answers so that I wouldn’t leave any unanswered questions. First and foremost, I must apologize to you because like you said I haven't been the kind of friend I know I am capable of being.”
The rapper then went on to reveal his reasons for ending things, saying that being with a white woman could hurt his image.
“For you to be seen with a black man wouldn’t in any way jeopardize your career, if anything it would make you seem that much more open and exciting. But for me at least in my previous perception I felt due to my ‘image’ I would be letting down hall of the people who made me what I thought I was. I never meant to hurt you.”
Later in his letter, Tupac told Madonna he was put off by a comment she made when she said, “I’m off to rehabilitate all the rappers and basketball players.” Pac said the “words cut me deep seeing how I had never known you to be with anny rappers besides myself.”
The rapper went on to apologize for his previous actions, writing, “In the time since, as u can see, I have grown both spiritually and mentally. It no longer matters how I’m perceived.”
Tupac ended his letter by telling Madonna to “please be careful” and asking the singer if she could come see him in jail.
“I don’t know how you feel about visiting me but if you could find it in your heart I would love to speak face to face with you. It’s funny but this experiences has taught me to not take time 4 granted.”
The letter will be up for auction from July 19 through July 28 at the Gotta Have Rock and Roll auction. The starting bid for the letter is $100,000 and is expected to go for a lot more. A previous letter from the rapper went for $170,000.
