With the passing of Don Cornelius there are and will be a number of tributes, specials and no telling what coming to the surface over the next few weeks or so. I had the opportunity to watch the television show as a child and can remember the “soul train gang” wearing the most outrageous clothes (and sometimes costumes), shoes, props, hair styles, dances and just the fun and excitement that the television show always seemed to transmit to the viewing audience.

Nearly a week after ‘Soul Train’ creator Don Cornelius was discovered dead of a gunshot wound to the head, the Los Angeles coroner’s office has officially ruled his death a suicide.

The music world is still reeling from the death of ‘Soul Train’ creator Don Cornelius, who died yesterday from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. In particular, members of the R&B and hip hop community were moved by the passing of an icon whose TV show introduced many of them to legends like Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson.

Don Cornelius of the hit television show Soul Train has Died. TMZ.com is reporting that Cornelius was found by authorities at approximatley 4:00 this morning. Cornelius and his show ‘Soul Train Debuted in 1971 and ran for nearly 35 years. Don Cornelius was 75 years old.
