SportsCenter’s Jemele Hill is Facing Heat for Tweets About the President [Hot Topics With ADRI V. The Go Getta]
Earlier this week Jemele Hill, co-host of ESPN’s 6 pm Sports Center broadcast (The 6) was under fire after she posted several tweets calling President Trump a white supremacist. Of course, this did not go over well with Trump supporters and they immediately called for the firing of Jemele for her comments. White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said, “I think that’s one of the more outrageous comments that anyone can make,” Sanders said Wednesday during a press briefing, “and certainly something that I think is a fireable offense by ESPN.”
Donald Trump is a white supremacist who has largely surrounded himself w/ other white supremacists.

While ESPN did not fire Jemele they did release a statement saying, “We have addressed this with Jemele and she recognizes her actions were inappropriate.”

Jemele also released a statement of her own on Twitter saying that her personal beliefs are not a reflection of the company and she regrets that her comments put ESPN in an unfair situation.

It is now being reported that Wednesday when the White House made their statement, ESPN producers tried to block Hill from hosting her hour-long show. In fact, sources say that ESPN asked 2 other Black anchors to sit in for Jemele and they both refused to do so. It is also reported that her co-host and close friend Michael Smith refused to go on air without her leading to no changes in the lineup for the show. Hill has garnered a ton of support on Twitter by fans, fellow reports and athletes including Colin Kaepernick and Dwayne Wade.
