Legendary hip-hop producer Battlecat, born Kevin Gilliam, was hospitalized last Thursday (July 25) in Los Angeles after suffering a massive heart attack. Details are scarce, but the producer appears to be recovering and in good spirits.

DubCNN.com was the first to report the news of the incident. Initial reports stated that Battlecat was in serious condition, but it appears that the producer is in stable condition.

His brother, rapper Michael "Mykestro" Gilliam, recently went on Facebook and posted a photo (see above) of him bedside with Battlecat at the hospital. Mykestro also asked for privacy so the producer can get better.

On Twitter, Battlecat's friend, DJ Mark Luv, said that Battlecat is on the mend. "Good News, Kevin "Battlecat" Gilliam is resting. He's in good condition," he tweeted.

Battlecat (aka BC Powda), who is a native of Long Beach, Calif., has produced hit songs for Snoop Dogg, Heavy D, Xzibit, Faith Evans, Domino (the classic 'Ghetto Jam') and Dana Dane (his 1995 album 'Rollin Wit Dana Dane'), among many other artists. In 1995, he dropped his first compilation LP called 'Gumbo Roots' featuring guest verses from Rass Kass, Kam, Yo-Yo and others.

We want to wish DJ Battlecat a speedy recovery. Throw your W's up!
