With the success of 2015s Straight Outta Compton, it's surprising that more hip-hop biopics haven't hit the big screen yet. Thankfully, that'll change with Master P's life story hitting theaters in the future. In fact, shooting starts this summer.

According to a press release, Queen Latifah will star in it, along Wendell Pierce of The Wire fame. Additionally, the movie will focus on much of P's childhood in the Calliope projects and show how he started No Limit Records, the label that made the rapper and many others household names.

"The timing is right for me to tell my story," said P. "It was tough back then, especially being from the South, New Orleans, and the murder capital at the time. I want others to learn from my mistakes and understand my work ethic of never give up, no matter what it may look like."

The rapper and mogul also said he'll hold auditions in New Orleans, because he's eager to give local talent a chance.

"I believe there are so many talented actors and actresses that just need a shot," he explained. "New Orleans natives are invited to an open casting on Tuesday, April 4 from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Gretna, Louisiana."

Latifah has yet to comment on the film, and we'll be sure to keep you updated about it as more details emerge.
