The list for the 2018 Grammy nominations has arrived, and JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars understandably dominate the nominee list.

JAY-Z's 4:44, Kendrick Lamar's critically-acclaimed album, DAMN., Childish Gambino's psychedelic funk album, Awake My Love! and Bruno Mars' nostalgically energetic 24K Magic are all deservedly up for Album of the Year alongside Lorde's Melodrama.

Childish Gambino (Donald Glover), JAY-Z, Kendrick and Bruno also rightfully show up in the Record of the Year category for "Redbone," "The Story of O.J.," "Humble" and "24K Magic" respectively.

While the nomination list is pretty impressive (Lil Uzi Vert, Khalid and SZA all made the cut for Best New Artist), that of course, doesn't mean much given the Grammy's shaky history. Remember last year when Beyoncé's Lemonade failed to win Album of the Year and even winner Adele wondered what exactly Bey has to do to win the coveted award? Or the year that Kendrick Lamar's defining masterpiece, To Pimp A Butterfly lost out to Macklemore? Such bad decision-making caused Frank Ocean and Drake to both not even submit their albums for Grammy consideration in 2017 and 2018 respectively.

Here's hoping this year's impressive list is an indication music's biggest night will hold a few more good surprises in 2018—like Kendrick dominating and Donald Glover rightfully nabbing some major awards . The 60th annual Grammy Awards take place Jan. 28 on CBS at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
