Lil Wayne – God Bless Amerika

Lil Wayne released the video for his song "God Bless Amerika" on Monday night off his most recent album I Am Not a Human Being II. The visual is full of images of Wayne's native New Orleans and the community still devastated by Hurricane Katrina. The song and the video remind us of the failures of America’s government to properly rebuild poor neighborhoods that were damaged by the storm. There was some controversy when the video was filmed because it appeared that Wayne was stomping on an American flag, however, with further review we realize it was unintentional.

Ace Hood - Trials & Tribulations

On Tuesday, Ace Hood released a video for his song “Trials & Tribulations” as well as his newest album by the same name. The song describes how growing up was tough for Ace and is filled with personal antidotes about his family. The visual is a bit disappointing, however, as its mostly one shot of him rapping in a circle of fire. The album has received relatively good reviews so far and features artists such as Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Meek Mill.

Earl Sweatshirt - Hire

The Odd Future rapper Earl Sweatshirt is finally getting ready to release Doris, his highly anticipated new album which features singles “Chum”, “Whoa”, and now “Hire” The visual, like many of his previous, show us his fully-developed artistic ability which compliments his highly lyrical verses. Earl hangs out in dark houses and alleys accompanied by masked friends in this eerie video. His rhyme packed raps are dark, weird, but ultimately clever and deserve at least a few listens.

A$AP Ferg - Shabba

ASAP Ferg teams up with ASAP Rocky for his song “Shabba” off his mixtape “Trap Lord set to release in August. Watch as the whole ASAP Mob parties in style in a luxurious mansion. Cameos from Feelicia Peason a.k.a. Snoop from The Wire and reggae artist Shabba Ranks for whom the song is named definitely make this video a must watch.

RichHomie Quan – Type of Way

The hood banger ‘Type of Way’ was a bonus track on his September mixtape ‘Still Goin In,’ but has proved to be his most popular track yet. The song is a great example of his melodic flow although his sound certainly could be confused with fellow Atlanta rapper Future. However, the visual is pretty routine, featuring nice cars, expensive jewelry, beautiful women and crowded nightclubs.
