Father’s Day Ideas + Events In Buffalo
Dads get the benefit of not only having their special day fall on a weekend but also in the middle of June, when Buffalo combines countless festivals and sunny near-summer weather into perfect harmony.
In other words, if you and dad are looking for something to do, you’ve got plenty of options to choose from.
If a round (or several) of golf isn’t his scene, or a quiet brunch just won’t do, scour this list for other options happening this Father’s Day weekend – from food tours to Buffalo’s Juneteenth Festival, and everything in between.

Time: Registration from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Awards at 4 p.m.
See some cars and support the Variety Kids Telethon at the Clutch Artists’ Spring-A-Rama Car Show. Registration fee is $10 for car and motorcycle drivers. Includes a free breakfast buffet or $5 off Father’s Day Buffet.

Where: Buffalo River Fest Park
Time: 6 p.m. – Midnight on Friday, 11 a.m. – Midnight on Saturday and 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday
Enjoy the 14th Annual Buffalo River Fest, a family-friendly outdoor weekend event at Buffalo River Fest Park. View the grain elevators and enjoy food vendors, live music, walking tours, artists’ tables and more!

Where: Allentown (between Elmwood and Wadsworth Streets)
Time: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. both days
Join local artists, musicians and street performers in Allentown for the 15th Annual Allen West Festival and “a slightly more bohemian experience of the Allentown neighborhood.”

Where: Historic Allentown District (Delaware Avenue and Allen Street)
Time: 11 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Take a trip to the 57th Annual Allentown Art Festival on Father’s Day weekend and join tens of thousands of art patrons in the Allentown Historic Preservation District. Peruse and purchase arts and crafts from over 400 exhibitors and stroll through the area while enjoying the (hopefully) sunny weather.

Enjoy a day of lunch with a creative spin. Embark on a three-hour guided walking tour of the Elmwood Village, where you’ll sample from local eateries and explore the neighborhood. All food tastings, enough for lunch are included in the ticket price of $44.

Where: Martin Luther King Jr. Park
Time: 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. both days
Come and enjoy a fun-filled weekend for the whole family at the third largest Juneteenth Festival in the country, a celebration started to “actively preserve and promote the broad spectrum of the African American heritage through educational and cultural activities that will benefit the community as a whole.” On Father’s Day, a praise and worship service is schedule from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m., followed immediately by festivities, such as an antique car show, main stage entertainment, arts and culture stage entertainment and much more.
Where: The Buffalo Zoo
Time: 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. (grounds remain open one hour after gates close)
Spend time with dad as you explore the Zoo together. Dads get in for just $1!
When: Every Friday, Sunday and holidays
Where: Niagara Falls State Park
Time: 8 p.m. – 10 p.m.
Start off the night at America’s oldest state park with a free concert featuring Groovy Food, followed by fireworks over the mighty Niagara Falls.
Where: Martin’s Fantasy Island
Time: 11:30 a.m. – 8:30 p.m.
Fathers admitted free when accompanied by one or more paying children.
Where: Herschell Carrousel Museum
Time: 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
Spend a special day at the Carrousel Museum with the fathers and father figures in your life. Share crafts and activities and don’t forget to take a family ride around the carrousel. Free to all fathers (other admission is $6 adults; $5 seniors; $3 children ages 2 – 16).
Where: Hidden Valley Animal Adventure
Time: 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Because dads and cookouts go together like peanut butter and jelly. Bring the whole family and enjoy Bison burgers, St. Louis Ribs and BBQ Beef Brisket. The Lodge will also serve a special ala carte menu from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Reservations recommended.

Where: Buffalo Museum of Science
Time: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Sunday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. on Thursday – Saturday
Learn about mummies with your daddy (I apologize for that). The new “Mummies of the World” exhibition at the Buffalo Museum of Science is the largest exhibition of mummies and related artifacts in North America. Spend the day at the museum exploring and learning who these people were, where they came from and the processes to mummify them. Perfect for any history buff (or general lover of cool stuff)!

Where: Tifft Nature Preserve
Time: On reservation
Maybe some fresh air and a stroll around the trails is more dad’s thing. Stop by Tifft Nature Preserve Visitor Center for a guided outdoor walk. $2.00 per person donation appreciated. Please call 825-6397 to confirm walk will be taking place.
When: June 13, 14 and 15
Where: Various wineries on the Niagara Wine Trail
Time: 12 p.m. – 5 p.m. on Friday and Sunday, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday
Sample artisan cheeses and perfectly-pared wines this Father’s Day. Tickets are $30 advance online ($35 at the door) and are valid for all three days of the event. Includes a tasting of three wines and cheese sample at each winery and a commemorative wine glass from your starting winery.
