According to Mail Online, Donovan Lamar Haynes smirked as he was handed the sentence of 18 years and nine months for the deadly attack on his two-year-old daughter Ti’Airra Woodward.

The 23-year-old from Flint, Michigan, pleaded no contest to second-degree murder of the infant in 2011, admitting that he was trying to make her a lesbian so that she would avoid dating men like himself – who had a history of treating women poorly.

Haynes’ lawyer, Elbert Hatchett, said his client was “deranged”, adding: “This case is a case that defies reason, logic, common sense.

“It is a tragedy to see the life of an innocent child snuffed out for no reason at all.”
