Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown is expected to give the official details on the new grocery store coming to Ellicot street which is the heart of downtown Buffalo. According to WIVB, The city has reportedly been pushing for some time now to redevelop the 300-car surface parking lot on Ellicott Street. The goal is reportedly to turn it into a space for a grocery store, a parking ramp, housing units, and use by Erie Community College.

A lot of people who spoke to News 4 said that’s the kind of development they’d like to see in that area. Some pointed out that the development, especially the portion involving a grocery store, would likely promote more future growth in the downtown area. “We definitely need somewhere to shop,” said David Atkinson, who parks in the Ellicott Street lot now. “I work in the Veterans Outreach Center here and we really just have no where to get basic grocery needs so it would be really nice and convenient for people that work downtown.”
