An arrest has been made in the murders of a man and woman found shot to death in a car on the side of the road in Whistler in Alabama reports WPMI.

Kiyonta Malique Moffett, 29, of Buffalo, New York, was arrested Wednesday in the shooting deaths of Charnesha Jaquail Penn and Roderick Reed. The two were found dead in their car near Warren Street and North Gould Avenue on January 15.

"Thanks to the collective efforts of Prichard Investigators, the Alabama State Bureau of Investigation, U.S. Marshals and with the cooperation of local citizens, we are happy to report this arrest," Prichard Police Chief Bernard Parrish said.

"Regrettably, this does nothing to restore the lives of the two young people who died nor does it heal the hurt of those who love them.

"We trust that their families and the citizens of Prichard and the surrounding area will rest a little easier tonight knowing that this individual has been taken off the streets."
