A$AP Mob Mixtape, New Mac Miller & Pharrell, Big Sean’s ‘Detroit’ + More [HIP-HOP HEADLINES]
College life in Buffalo is in full swing, and with Labor Day weekend behind us, it’s time to start getting into the fall season. What better way to do that than through music? A lot of our favorite artists are gearing up with new albums, mixtapes and tours in the upcoming months, so be sure to keep an eye on WBLK.com to see the latest hip-hop news!
MIXTAPE ARTWORK/TEASER: Big Sean’s Detroit. It’s been a busy summer for G.O.O.D. Music signee Big Sean. With his label’s collaborative album dropping at the end of September after being pushed back, he still had the time to gather and work on a solo mixtape dropping tomorrow (Wednesday, September 5). Detroit will feature the likes of J.Cole and Juicy J and will be followed by Big Sean’s sophomore project in the coming months.
Listen below for a teaser from the mixtape, “24 Karats of Gold” featuring J.Cole.
NEW MIXTAPE: A$AP Mob’s Lords Never Worry. The A$AP collective have finally released their mixtape, Lords Never Worry, after creating quite a buzz in the music scene throughout the past year. Solo projects have been scattered throughout the blogosphere for weeks, and now fans get the chance to hear the kids from New York rap on a project together.
BEHIND BARS: Max B. Former Dipset affiliate Max B was denied his appeal of a 75-year prison term by the New Jersey appeals court. This is sad news for those around the artist, as he was initially sentenced in 2009 for a 2006 murder and robbery, and this appeal served as confirmation of Max B’s fate.
SPOTTED: Danny Brown, Childish Gambino and Schoolboy Q perform at Prospect Park. Despite the video below being labeled a freestyle, the three rappers actually each performed parts of their respective tracks and meshed it together during a concert in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. Childish Gambino’s verse comes from his track “Bronchitis,” Danny Brown’s is from “No Hook” and Schoolboy Q’s contribution is from “Flight Confirmation.”
ALBUM ARTWORK: Mac Miller and Pharrell’s Pink Slime. It seems as though collaborative albums are the trend this year, as legendary producer Pharrell Williams and up-and-comer Mac Miller are also preparing a project for their fans. This summer, the two released a few songs off their EP Pink Slime, and now the artwork has surfaced, serving as confirmation for this duo.
You can listen to “Glow” below to get a feel for what these two have in store for fans this fall.
