7 Movies You May Not Know Are Set in or Reference Buffalo and WNY (Part 2)

Critically acclaimed, 2007's The Savages is set in Buffalo!  The drama is about a family's internal issues after 2 siblings come together in Buffalo to help their ailing father!

Filmed in Buffalo and two other WNY locations,
Gowanda Correctional Facility and Lackawanna, this 1998 movie is about Billy Brown's revenge on Scott Wood, which refers to former Buffalo Bills kicker, Scott Norwood, who missed the game-winning field goal in Super Bowl XXV against the New York Giants in 1991!

Canadian Bacon was set in Canada and Niagara Falls, so it included filming in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, in addition to a number of locations in Canada, according to IMDB.  The President of the U.S. is having tough times with the economy and the polls, and a good war with Canada is all that the country needs!  Niagara County sheriff Bud Boomer is defending American borders against a Canadian 'enemy'!

This movie isn't out yet, but it's set in Niagara Falls, filmed in Buffalo, The Falls and Lockport. The scheduled release date is April 28th. The tagline for the movie is pretty catchy, 'There are three sides to every story... the truth, the lie, and the American side!'

Breathe (2011) is a film about a woman misdiagnosed with Preeclampsia. She almost dies, ends up in a comma. Fights for her life and the life of her unborn child.  The film is set in Niagara Falls and Western New York and filmed all over WNY, including Amherst, Buffalo, Clarence, Depew, Niagara Falls, Orchard Park, and Williamsville.

2004's Proud is about one of two Navy ships, with African American crews, was involved in combat in World War II.

Fright World is set in WNY at the Halloween Park by the same name. Nine people find terror in a warehouse that has all the remains of Frightworld, which is haunted by a serial killer.
