Six zip codes in Western New York have the highest cases of COVID-19, according to recently released data from the Erie County Department of Health. Per the most recent data report for the Department, there were 2,212 COVID-19 cases reported in the county for the week ending October 30, 2021.

These zip codes have the highest seven-day average case rates:

1. 14221 (Amherst/Williamsville/Clarence - 133 cases)
2. 14224 (West Seneca - 106 cases)
3. 14075 (Hamburg - 103 cases)
4. 14086 (Lancaster - 101 cases)
5. 14127 (Orchard Park - 100 cases)
6. 14150 (Tonawanda - 83 cases)

The age range in Erie County with the most COVID-19 cases are people ages 30 to 39-year-old, with a total of 396 cases (229 females, 167 males). There were 545 cases in people under the age of 19-years-old for the week ending October 30. Governor Kathy Hochul told parents yesterday, November 2, to get ready to vaccinate their children against COVID-19,

"As the CDC prepares to authorize vaccinations for kids ages 5-11, we are well prepared for a seamless roll-out here in the State of New York," Governor Hochul said. "We have been working hand-in-hand with pediatricians, doctor's offices, pharmacies, schools and parents to ensure that protecting our kids is as easy as possible and we can finally move past this pandemic."

 

WNY Has the Highest COVID-19 Positive Rate in All of New York State

Western New York currently has the honor of being the region in New York State with the highest COVID-19 positivity rate. Governor Hochul released her daily COVID-19 report yesterday, with data for November 1, 2021. The 7-day average here in WNY is not good. WNY is more than double the statewide 7-day average. We're also one of five regions with 7-day averages over 4 percent and one of three regions with 7-day averages of more than 5 percent.
