Texans Deal Buffalo It’s Second Straight Loss In Houston
The Bills have had a hard time winning in Houston, Texas. On Sunday, October 5, 2024, those difficulties continue as Buffalo is handed a tough defeat by the Texans inside of NRG Stadium.
The game started slowly for both teams as they went three-and-out on their opening drives. The Bills began to move the ball fairly well on their second possession and were the first team to score points thanks to a 38-yard Tyler Bass field goal in the first quarter, giving Buffalo an early 3-0 lead over Houston.
However, Houston didn't waste any time in responding offensively as the Texans went on two long drives and quickly scored two touchdowns on the Bills. The first score came after Texans Cam Akers ran 15 years to put six points on the board, and the team quickly followed up with a 69-yard bomb from CJ Stroud to a wide-open Nico Collins, who quickly scampered for Houston's second score.
At the end of the first half, things did not look good for the hometown team, as the Texans were leading Buffalo 17-3.
The second half of the game started to look much better for the Bills, as it seemed that some of the team's halftime adjustments were having some impact. James Cook scored a touchdown on a 5-yard run in the third quarter to bring the Bills within 7 points of the Texans.
Rookie sensation Keon Coleman did some fancy footwork of his own, snagging a pass from Josh Allen and then taking off on a 49-yard run to score the Bills second touchdown of the third quarter, bringing the score even at 17-17.
At the end of the third quarter and the beginning of the 4th quarter, both teams traded field goals to bring the score to 20-20.
For a moment, it looked like the Bills could pull this one out, but Houston managed to force the Bills to punt near the end of the 4th quarter, which then gave the Texans a chance to run down the clock and kick a game-winning field goal to win as the clock expired.
With their second straight loss, Buffalo now looks to fix their issues before traveling to New Jersey to take on the Jets on Monday Night Football on October 14, 2024.
