Buffalo Shovels The 49ers, Winning 35-10
Sunday night in Buffalo, New York, can be a fun place to be, especially when the first lake effect snowstorm of the year pummels the region with snow for the entire weekend. That snowstorm dropped more than 2 feet of snow on Highmark Stadium, and it took a tremendous effort to clear snow from the stadium complex in order to get the field ready to play football. Even with all the work done to prepare for the game, the snow continued to fall on Orchard Park, and it impacted both the San Francisco 49ers and the Buffalo Bills.
The weather helped Buffalo slip and slide to a big win against the 49ers. While the 49ers scored the first points with a 33-yard field goal from Jake Moody in the first quarter, this game belonged to the Bills in both the first and second halves.
Running Backs Ray Davis and James Cook put big touchdowns on the board with 5-yard and 65-yard scoring runs, respectively. The scoring wasn't just through the ground game as Josh Allen and the passing crew put points on the board as well, with Mack Hollins snagging a 7-yard touchdown catch.
The second half was just as good for Buffalo as the first, with Josh Allen leading the way.
It started with Josh Allen tossing a pass to Amari Cooper, who lateraled the ball back to Josh, with Allening taking it in for a touchdown.
That play gets recorded in the stat book as Josh Allen passing to himself for a touchdown, making him the 4th person to do so in NFL history.
If that wasn't enough, in the fourth quarter, Josh Allen ran 8 yards for a touchdown. That running score also gave Josh Allen an NFL first, the first quarterback to run, pass, and catch a touchdown in NFL history.
With this victory, Buffalo's seventh in a row, the team has clinched its fifth straight AFC East Title. The team now looks forward to NFL Week 14, when it travels to Los Angeles to face the Rams on Sunday, December 9, 2024.
