Traffic Nightmare Feared For Hamburg and Orchard Park This Holiday Season
Thanksgiving is three weeks from today and that means that soon Western New York residents will be venturing out to get Christmas shopping done, although some may have already started.
Amazon and online shopping is extremely convenient but nothing replicates going to the store.
One of the more popular plazas in the Buffalo area is the Quaker Crossing Plaza in Orchard Park, just down the road from Hamburg and McKinley Parkway.
That area from Quaker Crossing to the McKinley intersection at Milestrip also has Wegmans up the road and the McKinley Mall; along with the I-90 entrance, so traffic naturally a little busy there at all times.
It's about to get even busier.
Chick-fil-A's new Hamburg location is about to open on Milestrip near the McKinley intersection later this months, with the non-public ribbon cutting ceremony scheduled for November 16th.
If you paid attention to the grand openings of the Chick-fil-A locations in Cheektowaga, it caused an influx of traffic due to the demand. The same should happen for this location.
It's going into a busy part of Hamburg, near Orchard Park, and you throw in the fact it will be opening just before the start of the holiday shopping season...and you have the likelihood for a ton of traffic in that area.
Chick-fil-A is one of my favorite fast food restaurants and I often get DoorDash from the location on Transit and Losson Road, but because of their intense popularity, there's a lot of traffic and this location, added with the holiday season, means southtowns drivers should give themselves extra time.
